I’m Pin Chinnapat (the one with the Bianchi bicycle), Founder and Managing Director of The Mindful Tourist. My co-founder, Milena (the one with the pink pom pom beanie – she’s so stylish!) and I started The Mindful Tourist from the love and joy of hanging out in the woods, to promote the practice of Shinrin Yoku and bring awareness of the practice to people visiting Japan. We created The Mindful Tourist trainings and retreats with the aim to increase awareness of nature’s holistic healing powers and make the practice of Japanese Shinrin Yoku more easily accessible to a wider range of audiences.
In the pictures, we cycled from Kyoto to Nara (around 60km one way) in the middle of winter (so sooo very cold on the bicycles) and stayed at a farmhouse in the middle of the forest. We met Chie (the 3rd picture, the lady with a beautiful smile in the middle) who is the lovely owner of the place. She let us pick fresh produce from her farm to cook in her kitchen. We became friends.
One year later, Chie’s farmhouse became our training ground in Japan and we had our very first group of students (the last picture) who came to be certified in Shinrin Yoku in Japan.
Come and join us in Japan and experience profound connection to nature. Get certified, go on and share your passion with the world!

Hi! I’m Chie. I own and operate Toyouke no mori, a guesthouse with organic farm in a quiet mountain in Nara. Life at Toyouke no mori is anchored in the Japanese traditional of shared community, based on simplicity, sustainability and harmony. We offer guests an opportunity to experience life close to nature that celebrates the richness four seasons Japan, and to cultivate inner peace, being content with what you have, and rejoicing in the way things are.
