Journey Through Life With the Wisdom of the Forest
Kerry Kelly is the Spa and Wellness Manager at Dromoland Castle Hotel & Country Estate in County Clare, Ireland, where she has been part of the team since May 2018. Kerry has an extensive background in the spa and wellness industry, having previously worked as a Spa Manager for ELEMIS in London, Spa and Fitness Manager at Mandara Spa, Spa Manager at PZ Cussons – The Sanctuary, and Assistant Spa Director at Jumeirah Group / Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts.
Currently living her best life on the west coast of Ireland with her husband, Kerry feels privileged to manage the spa department at Dromoland Castle. Her deep connection to nature inspired her move from London to Ireland and fuels her keen interest in alternative therapies, such as forest bathing. Intrigued by the healing properties of trees, Kerry’s research into Shinrin-Yoku (forest bathing) has deepened her appreciation for this Japanese practice.
For Kerry, being out in nature is an opportunity to pause, reflect, and be thankful for her surroundings. It allows her to switch off from the challenges of life, recharge, and appreciate the small things that make life a gift.
Kerry hopes to introduce forest bathing as an activity on the grounds of Dromoland Castle. She believes that in our technology-driven world, it’s essential to focus on our well-being and reconnect with nature to reset and rejuvenate.
“Spending more time in the woodlands has really made me appreciate nature and all the benefits it gives you both mentally and physically.
It’s been a huge learning experience and I know I still have lots to learn still but I have really enjoyed sitting on the riverbank for a few hours in the evening sunshine, seeing Kingfishers and spotting other wildlife
I have really enjoyed foraging and learning about the benefits and uses of plants that I would have once considered just weeds.
Excellent mentor throughout the course and given encouragement every step of the way. “
