Journey Through Life With the Wisdom of the Forest
Katelynne Webb is a Community Forestry Leader specializing in Urban Forestry for City Operations, Parks & Roads Services in Edmonton, Canada. She combines her extensive knowledge of forest and tree ecosystems with her experience leading tree planting programs to create meaningful nature-based activities. She incorporate her understanding of ecosystem processes and the physiological connections within forests to foster a deeper connection between participants and the natural environment. She believes the natural environment serves as a new start for creativity and reflection, offering a safe space for participants to explore their fears, goals, and wishes. With a focus on the textures, colors, and sounds of the forest, Katelynne’s sessions inspire artful creativity, promote periods of growth and intentional inactivity, and provide a sense of calm and healing.
In the city upcoming project, Shinrin Yoku sessions will be offered to the city’s community.

“When I started this training, I was curious about the material covered. I’ve learned that the journey is endless, with new tools, scientific findings, and perspectives to explore. Forest therapy will be an ever-expanding passion for me.
I was surprised by the amount of scientific research on forest therapy. While I personally experienced its benefits, it was great to see these benefits backed by science. I appreciated the opportunity to view the material from both personal and municipal government perspectives. The feedback on assignments each week offered new perspectives and valuable insights.
I rediscovered the importance of community building and the value of engaging with others in preserving urban spaces. I accepted new invitations and found fresh ways to interact with the forest.
I want to acknowledge my persistence in completing assignments despite family stressors. I was able to bounce back from negativity and return to my authentic self.
The practice sessions were the most rewarding, allowing me to apply my learnings and share my passions. This training reignited my excitement for leading programs. I also enjoyed listening to others’ experiences and felt safe sharing my own.
Thank you, Milena, for your honesty and authenticity, creating a safe space to explore. Thank you to the members for sharing your wisdom, experiences, and participation.”
